Puri Rath Yatra 2021: Jagannath Puri Rath Yatra is the most important festival of Jagannath temple. This event is so old that it can be found described in Brahma Purana, Padma Purana, and Skanda Purana and Kapila Samhita. This auspicious day is celebrated on Ashadha Shukla Paksha Dwitiya. Ratha Yatra Festival date is falling on 12 th july 2021 of this year.
According to the custom during Puri Rath Yatra all the three deities have a visit to their maternal home Gundicha temple, which is 5kms away from the Jagannath temple. There are three chariots made for the deities, which is being pulled by the people. Anybody from any cast and creed can have visit to the great Rath Yatra and have blessings of the supreme lord of the world.

Due to Covid-19 pandemic, entry to Shri Jagannath temple is closed by the state Govt. of Odisha till 25th July 2021 and imposed restrictions on important festivals like Snana Purnima and Ratha Yatra. Rath Yatra 2021 will be held without devotees.
The work of Rath Yatra is in full swing. There is a possibility of opening of lockdown by the time. If the hotels will open during the period, one must have to book the hotels prior 15 days of the event.
